Diaper Bag Essentials- Don’t Leave Home Without These!

If you’re a mom, you’re a superhero, period.

And we all know superheros wear capes. In this case moms wear diaper backpacks, ha! I can’t stress to you how much I suggest 100% that diaper backpacks are the way to go. Trust me as a mother you need your two hands because chasing one or more kiddos is no joke. I tried the cross body diaper bag or the should strap one and it was NOT THE BUSINESS! It was more work than it was worth. The cross body got to heavy. The weight distribution just made my shoulders hurt and the shoulder strap one kept falling down when I had to chase my toddler. When I purchased my first diaper backpack, the motherhood game got so much easier. I’m always out and about so comfort is key! I need to have freedom with my arms, but still carry the essentials. I’m here to tell you what works for me in order to help you mamas out!

“If you think my hands are full you should see my heart”

Do you see how much more freedom I have in this picture with a diaper backpack? You have one arm to carry your newborn and the other to have free for your toddler! It’s SO MUCH more convenient mamas. TRUST ME! INVEST in a good diaper backpack.

Okay , so here are my top items that I carry in my diaper bag that I do not leave home without.

  1. Diapers (obviously!): I always make sure I have 3-4 diapers or depending on how long I’m going to be out. Always restock before you leave the house!
  2. Wipes: I always carry the entire package. You can use these for diaper changes of course but also to clean your kid’s faces, hands, etc.
  3. Sunblock: I always carry this because even when it’s not sunny you are still exposed! Plus you never know when you are going to find yourself outside. You don’t want to miss an opportunity out in the sun because you don’t have SPF!
  4. Extra Clothes: Not just for your baby, but also for your toddler and yourself! Have you ever been puked on while you are out and about? That stinky puke smell is not the most appealing (speaking from experience, ha #momlife)
  5. Hand Sanitizer: Do not leave home without this. I repeat do not leave home with this! You and your kids are constantly touching everything. From grocery carts, door handles, toys, etc. I feel where I use it most often is after Dani has been touching toys at Target and then we get to the car and she wants a snack! Can we say GERMS!?!? I feel so much better knowing I can clean the germs off and keep her happy with a snack.
  6. Snacks: this includes snacks for your kids and yourself! Take care of yourself too mama! I always throw in a protein bar in my diaper bag! It doesn’t take up too much room. I always carry enough snacks for the day and restock as needed.
  7. Tissue: The small individual sized ones are a huge plus! You never know when someone is going to have a runny nose!
  8. Traveling first aid kit: You can find them in the Target traveling section for a few dollars! Coming from a mom who has a little non-stop adventurous toddler. Falls are inevitable. The kit has come in handy so much!
  9. Water bottle: I have a huge Hydroflask water bottle that I always keep full.
  10. Baby wrap: I have a newborn, so the wraps are really easy to fold up in my diaper bag. I’m all about the babywearing, so I ALWAYS have a wrap and/or carrier with me.

I hope these items helped you out! As you already know I am always on the go with two kids. My friends are always asking how I’m always on the go and prepared for anything! I’ve learned along the way and being prepared is key. Having the essentials to keep your kids and yourself happy makes the adventures so much sweeter! I love sharing these tips with you because they have helped me out and I so very much hope they help you out! Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks for reading friends! Until next time!

xoxo, Dris
