And what could be more beautiful, than bringing new life into the world?
Being a parent is the most beautiful thing in the world and the hardest thing in the world, isn’t it? You’re pregnant for almost a year and cross your fingers that you are growing a healthy baby inside of you! I remember being pregnant with Danica and I had to take antibiotics several times during the pregnancy. I was so scared because I didn’t want to harm my baby.
As a first time parent you rely a lot on what you read on the internet, what your friends have done and what your parents have done. Not knowing what the right thing to do is a tough place to be and you want to rely on credible information with statistics to back up their research rather than the famous response “well I did it when I was pregnant and you turned out just fine.”
I’m going to get a little real here in honor of September being FASD (or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders) Awareness Month. I had always heard that having one drink of alcohol while pregnant on occasion was okay. I never tried it because it just was not worth it for me to risk the chances. I was not comfortable when some people would say well “I had a few drinks when I was pregnant and my kids turned out fine. You’re fine.” If there was a 1% chance that it would harm my unborn child I didn’t even think twice. There has been research that shows having alcohol while pregnant can be extremely harmful for children! It would break my heart that I as an adult had a choice and I decided to risk for a cold alcoholic beverage. NOT WORTH IT!
