Family Staycation at La Jolla Shores Hotel

Meet me where the sky touches the sea.

To end our long road trip in Zion we decided to stay at one of our favorite local beach hotels and have a staycation. My family and I Iove the beach so it was a no brainer that after driving 1,115 miles we would end our week at La Jolla Shores Hotel and relax because we deserved it! LJ Shores Hotel is located in the heart of La Jolla Shores. It is steps away from one of the best beaches in Southern California. I love this hotel because it’s steps away from the beach where you can surf, boogie board, kayak or snorkel nearby. In addition it’s also walking distance to a quaint La Jolla village with many shops and restaurants. The hotel has a restaurant called The Shores Restaurant which offers a variety of seasonal dishes and great cocktails. The restaurant offers an option to dine in on their oceanfront patio. The ambiance that the restaurant offers makes it feel so tropical and inviting. With social distancing guidelines in place, they are only doing outdoor seating at the moment. I don’t mind this option because the oceanfront views are spectacular!

It doesn’t matter where you’re going it’s who you have besides you.

To say that Danica was excited that our vacation was literally steps away from the beach is an understatement. She was overly excited that she rushed to get her suitcases to our room when we arrived. She is such a big helper and even shared one of her suitcases with her baby brother . Check out the video below to see her in action and to get a glimpse of the hotel as we walk to our room.

Our Beach front Hotel views are to die for.

I highly recommend the Beachfront Rooms. They have amazing views of the beach, coastal inspired decor, a private balcony, kitchenette and a comfortable living area that is perfect for a family. We picked up our dinner and brought it back to our room and ate our dinner on our private balcony. Hearing the waves crash and smelling the salty air was quite magical and the kids loved it! Definitely worth staying in one of these rooms for the views alone.

Look at the view straight ahead.

Some of the amenities include ($20 fee plus taxes per night will be charged)

  • Beach crew to set up equipment including umbrellas, chairs and towels
  • Year round heated pool
  • Jacuzzi
  • Shuttle Service around the the La Holla area
  • Season family games and activities
  • Unlimited WiFi access
  • Fitness Center for adults over 18 years old
  • and more!
The beach and the pool are a few steps from our hotel room!!!! #MOMWIN

The pool and jacuzzi area were a couple steps from the lobby and not too far from our room. Currently the jacuzzi is not available, but will hopefully be open soon. They offer towels and seating areas around the pool and great views. We had such a blast swimming and enjoyed lounging on the chairs enjoying some food throughout the day. The palm trees really make it feel like you are somewhere tropical, such a relaxing feeling.

Our mini explorer ready to get this staycation started while happily wearing her mask!

La Jolla Shores Hotel did such a great job with implementing social distancing practices. They required everyone to wear masks , had 6 feet distancing stickers on the ground and had hand sanitizer stations around the hotel as well. That was very important for us as we were trying to main our distance while still enjoying our staycation. Great job team!

The kids loved that they could go to the beach in the morning and then go to the pool after once it opened at 10am. Our day consisted of waking up early, taking a walk into the village for coffee and breakfast and returning to the hotel to get into our beachwear to enjoy the beach. I love staying in a hotel that is in walking distance to so much, especially for a family with young children. The other great thing that I love about the location of this hotel is that there is a local playground steps from the hotel. It’s a large playground that is filled with sand. Our kids really enjoy this playground and we come here often even when we are not staying in the hotel. The other special thing about this location is that we take our annual holiday photos by Scripps Pier which is a short walk from the hotel. It’s an iconic pier in La Jolla. Definitely worth checking out and capturing some amazing photos with your family.

This is our happy place.

We had a magnificent time at La Jolla Shores Hotel . We can’t wait to be back. The photos do not do this place justice. It was a great ending to our vacation. Thanks for having us! xo, Dris
