Unique & Simple Thanksgiving Craft Ideas for Toddlers & Preschoolers

Excuse our mess we are making memories.

We have crafted more these past few months than we ever have in the past thanks to the social distancing. Lucky for me my kids and I love crafting as much as we can. We love collecting rocks, sticks, pine cones, leaves, etc. whenever we are in our backyard or neighborhood walks. So not only are the kids having fun collecting objects to entertain them, but we can later use these objects for crafting #MOMWIN! Read along as I share with you how to easily make these thanksgiving craft ideas for kids.

Give thanks.

Polaroid Turkey

Life is short, smile while you still have teeth.

In addition to the love we have for making crafts we love having our polaroid handy to take photos of the kids and each other. My main focus was to work on different Thanksgiving crafts for kids that my kids actually enjoyed. They love when I use our Polaroid to take their pictures. I took my daughter’s photo and brought the turkey to “life” using her sweet face as the turkey’s head. This turkey craft was a hit with the kids.

The Items You Will Need For This Craft Are
  • Brown paint
  • Small photo of your child’s head
  • Feathers
  • Tacky Glue
  • White construction paper (or white paper plate will work as well)
Follow These Steps to Make Your Picture Perfect Turkey
Such an easy and fun craft!

  1. Apply the brown paint on your child’s palm.
  2. Hold your child’s hand down over the white construction paper or plate.
  3. Apply Tacky Glue to the feathers and apply to the palm print.
  4. Snap a picture of your child or cut out your child’s face out of a picture you already have. Glue their photo onto the turkey.
  5. Display the picture perfect turkey craft anywhere that your child is able to see.

  1. Whilst Thanksgiving isn’t a thing over here, I love the idea of using a Polaroid in another craft and turning it into something else. I adore Polaroids; I just think they are super cute and it makes me SO sad that they just sit into my albums doing nothing. Maybe I should try to think of other crafts that I could use them in so they can be used and placed around the house instead!

    1. Awe, thanks. I’m glad they were easy to follow and with kids easy steps is always best 🙂

  2. It must have been hilarious bringing the turkey to life!!! It’s great you are hands on and doing fun things. My son would love to do the same with stones especially.

  3. Oh my goodness! I loved the hand turkey project that you created with your daughter! She looked so happy. I especially loved when you busted out the green polaroid camera and captured her smile and added it at the end to the hand painting! You are right, Life is short, smile while you still have teeth.

  4. These are fun and nice ideas! I am quite at a loss on the activities that I can do with my daughter so, this is really helpful. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Hello. This post was extremely fascinating, particularly because I was looking for thoughts on this topic last Tuesday. Marlene Christian Mundy
